Please note: a Feedmix without roughage.

OSMA IS A FEEDLOT FATNER AND FINISHER

Enough Roughage must always be available ad-lib. Osma can also be fed as a background supplementation for animals on the veld.

You can also mix your own VOLVOER with Osma/Osma Superplus: Mix 50kg roughage with a 50 kg bag Osma.

OSMA is:

  1. Ideal to round off cattle for slaughter and show purposes
  2. Ideal to fatten up livestock and weaners on veld
  3. Better growth for heifers on veld
  4. Ideal to use for back-grounding

Osma feed is rich in all the necessary minerals like phosphate, iron, magnesium, copper, zinc and selenium.

OSMA HPK 85

Reg: V18163 Act 36/1947

25kg bags

This feed must be mixed to obtain the best results in feedlots.

Feedlot Mixture (example)

750kg Chop
250kg Roughage
2 x 25kg HPK 85 Concentrate
50kg molasses or 50 lt liquid molasses
Mixture for cattle or back grounding for calves in the veld.

Fattening in the veld

The same as for Feedlot mixture only use 1 x 25 kg HPK 85, instead of 2 for feedlot.

Drought feed/Droogtevoer

Custom Mix

We can assist livestock owners with the mixing of their own feeds so that the customer can control the price of the drought feed. These feed products would be regarded as a "Custom Mix" where ALL liability will be that of the customer and Wes Enterprises will accept NO liability of Custom mixes.

Calf Grower

Reg: V18717 Act 36/1947

50kg bags

AN EXCELLENT BALANCED AND SAFE FEED SUITABLE FOR WILDLIFE AS WELL AS Older animals, calves, lambs.

Calf Grower can also be fed the first week or two to weaning calves in the feed kraal, to get them used to eating a meel feed.

CALF GROWER CONTAINS ALL THE IMPORTANT MINERALS WHICH IS IMPORTANT FOR HEALTHY GROWTH LIKE PHOSPHATE, MAGNESIUM, CALCIUM, IRON, ZINC, COPPER AND SELENIUM.

Buffalo, Roan, and Sable calves can all use calf grower with the greatest of safety.

Dairy 17

Reg: V10341 Act 36/1947

50kg bags

Cows with calves need extra protein, calcium, phosphate and fat.

Diary 17 must be fed whilst the cow is being milked, 500g for every litre milk, that gets milked out.

Diary 17 enriches the milk. When milk appears blueish in colour, then it means the cow lacks the above mentioned minerals, so not only her but her calf will also suffer. The calf’s growth is then stunted and the weaning weight low. Additional sufficient and quality feed must be available for cows at all times.

Licks

Reg: V9995 Act 36/1947 Energy Lick
Reg: V10339 Act 36/1947 Winter Lick
Reg: V10352 Act 36/1947 Summer Lick

Licks blocks 20kg - Containing Aloe to assist with tick control.

PHOSPHATE/SUMMER LICK V 16210 ACT 36/1947
WILD LICK BLOCK/WINTER LICK 18162 ACT36/1947

PLEASE NOTE: PHOSPHATE, CALCIUM, AND MINERALS ARE PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT SUPPLEMENTS AND NEED TO BE GIVEN THROUGH THE YEAR FOR ALL LIVESTOCK AND GAME.

WESenterprises offers you a choice of 20kg blocks and 40kg bags in the form of summer, winter and energy lick. The blocks also contain aloe and are ideal for all animals and game and also help with tick control.

TRACE ELEMENTS AND MINERAL SHORTAGES CAN CAUSE SICKNESS AND AILMENTS LIKE:

  1. No or low Reproduction
  2. Cows can stay lying down after calving
  3. Afterbirth could stay stuck
  4. Animals can easily bloat
  5. Slows down metabolism
  6. Stiff sickness
  7. Loss of appetite
  8. Weight Loss
  9. Depletion of bone density
  10. Weak growth in calves
  11. Low weaning weight
  12. Dull hair colour
  13. Rickets
  14. Giraffe die easily from phosphate shortage

The importance of minerals found in WES Feeds and Lick Supplements

SELENIUM

According to the latest research selenium, with copper and zinc is your most important mineral in animal health, with phosphate and calcium. Selenium helps with growth and reproduction and also prevents abortion in early pregnancy. Selenium also builds muscle.

IRON

Prevents anemia

MAGNESIUM

Severe shortage can cause, lameness, shakes and convulsions. Helps strengthen the bone structure.

COPPER

Prevent “sway back”. “ Sway back” forms in the embryo stage, it is a defect in the brain. The animal walks “swaying” as if drunk. It can be observed directly after birth or even a few weeks after birth. Especially, sheep, goats and pigs are the most affected. Cattle can, even as adults get “falling sickness” from a copper shortage in the embryo stage. Unfortunately it can’t be healed if copper is added later in the diet. Weak and dull coat. It is more noticeable in Sables, Sable also get “flakes” on their horns, from a copper shortage. With the inclusion of copper in their diet coat colour can be restored.

PHOSPHATE AND CALCIUM

80% of the animals bone structure is made up of calcium and phosphorus. For healthy growth and strong bones, it is very important to get phosphate and calcium together in correct relation.

ZINC

Zinc helps with the normal absorption of digested food from the gut. Zinc helps the animal derive maximum value from their food.

(WES FEEDS lick blocks all contain Aloe. Phosphate blocks contain no ureu(NPN) and are recommended for horses as well. )

WES GAME LICKBLOCK

Contains more protein and specially formulated for the winter months, is also available with browse or ivomec on demand. Urea content is very low and game flourish on these licks. Savannah blocks are suitable for game, small and large livestock.

BROWSE BLOCKS (Client mix to order)

Blocks with browse can be fed from the end of March to game and livestock. Browse helps prevent tanine poisoning. Browse improves digestion of food by increasing metabolism which in turn reflects in the animals' improved condition.

Browse is beneficial in the winter months when natural fead increases in fibre content and is lower in nutrition. Browse therefore renders natural winter forage more nutritions.

IVOMEC BLOCKS (Client mix to order)

Blocks containing ivomec are put out for game twice a year for a month, normally when parasites are the most active like February and September. This is particularly important in intensive environments.

WESenterprises uses natural protein in all their lick supplements. NPN is used very minimally in all WES products.

UREA WARNING (NPN)

Licks with a high urea contents (NPN), reduce milk production and reproduction. High urea content in lick supplements are also not recommended for weaning and also for young calves.

WESenterprises feed and lick supplements are low in urea content, thus improving the overall safety of our products.

Any feed containing urea (NPN), must be fed strictly in accordance with the feeding instructions.

Rock Salt

Please Note: Despite new technology and information available on the importance of phosphates, there are still farmers, especially in the summer months, that only put out rock salt. Rock salt does not contain enough minerals or phosphate. During the summer months when the animals grow at their best, the phosphate intake is of crucial importance, and the animals bone structure comprises of 80% phosphate, the high salt intake disrupts certain processes in the rumen and lowers the mass intake due to an imbalance between sodium and potassium in the bodily fluids. Very high salt intake as experienced, where only rock salt and salt blocks are fed, is not always due to salt hunger but can be attributed to pica, due to a phosphor and/or other macro mineral or trace element, or even a energy or protein shortage. In addition it was shown that the high intake of salt can cause a phosphor shortage. Salt licks like rock salt should not be fed with phos mineral licks, because the animals would lick the salt and this will dilute the mineral intake.

WESenterprises licks are balanced with all the necessary minerals, phosphates and salt that the animals need for a healthy and balanced growth and proper development. Thereby reaching their full genetic potential

PICA

Pica is a description given when animals are inclined to eat strange objects like, bones, plastic packets, wood, stones, rock, feathers etc. this is a sign of absolute shortage of phosphate. Animals can die from a phosphate shortage and eating strange objects. Pica causes animals to eat old bones from carcasses and then become contaminated with Clostridium Botulism. This can cause deaths due to botulism and also cause lame sickness. The behavior of pica can be prevented by providing lick supplements ad lib. The feeding of broiler litter, also increase the risk of lame sickness and disease tremendously due to the possible presence of foreign material in the manure, that renders it toxic.
