Wes Horse Pellets

HORSE PELLETS       "The Horse is a born athlete - to enhance performance and the prevention of disease just
add training and balanced nutrition!"
Wes Horse Pellets is a balanced organic horse
feed that has been formulated by taking international
equine knowledge and combining it with local
conditions to produce a colic resistant complete
horse feed incorporating the necessary nutrients for
prevention of disease and dehydration.

Mineral and Trace elements
◘ Vitally important aspect of any animals overall condition and
reproduction. Owning to an elaborate root structure, the Acacia
sp.extracts largely untapped minerals and trace elements form the
ground and makes these readily available for ingestion through the
feed. "Overall soil health has a direct, although not immediately
visible, impact on animals" quote Summerhill - FW 28/07/2007.

Protein
Acacia has a protein value higher than that of many grasses. An
average full grown horse (excluding pregnant, lactating,
very old, etc) cannot assimilate more than 8 - 10% protein. Ref:
Veterinary Manual for the Performance Horse -
   Nancy L. Loving, DVM
◘ The adequate levels of protein are essential for the development of
reliable anti-bodies and immune systems. The levels of protein in
herbage such as grasses varies with its stage of growth (winter,
spring, summer etc), but the horses digestive demand remain
   constant.

Feeding Wes Horse Pellets enables your horse's digestive system to
process the feed easily. This is due to the feed being organic, whereby
it is broken down into its simplest forms. The nutrients are absorbed
into the blood stream and provide proteins, vitamins and minerals for
growth, repair and energy, or to be stored for future needs

The complete equine digestive system, both structures and functions,
have been considered to ensure optimum health and potential of your
horse when you feed Wes Horse Pellets.

Wes Horse Pellets are high in natural
fibre (ACCIA). By virtue of the fact that
the horse is one herbivore that is
dentured with incisor teeth on both
the upper and lower jaw, and that one
of the processes of equine digestion
is bacterial fermentation (digestion of
fibre by bacteria in the hindgut), good
quality fibre is essential in a horses'

Tannins
◘ Recently the anti-oxidant and cardio-
   protective potential of tannins/ polyp-
   henolics has been emphasized -
   even in human nutrition.
◘ Other potentially beneficial effects of

diet. It also addresses the physiological aspects unique to horses and
therefore provides dental health, prevents peptic ulcers as well as de-
hydration accompanying sweat loss.

Another reason why horses are equipped with incisor teeth on the
upper and lower jaws is to enable horses to ingest various fibre
structures, both grass (long fibre) as well as shrubs/ bushes
(polygonal particle fibre), akin to the semi-arid habitat where many
horses originate from.

   tannins are:
 • Pathogen control: parasites and bacteria.
 • Colic / bloat prevention
◘ Processed animal feeds are relatively low or have no tannins. It
has been hypothesized that this may lead to a 'lacking' resulting
in undesirable behavior like biting, stripping trees, ornamentals
and other shrub eating. In 'free range' such safe levels of
   tannins would normally be available!
WHY ACACIA FIBRE?
Like herbal teas, acacia has recently been realized for its natural
source of many nutrients. Acacia is beneficial to herbivores and in
many cases forms their staple diet. The benefits of acacia are:
